Description
A Nashville police detective, Jack "Boo" Radley, loses his wife (the third) in a fatal car accident. Depressed, he drops out of the police department, and heads somewhere south. Winds up in a dilapidated Mississippi fish camp with five gallons of vodka and embarks on a new mission of becoming the town drunk. Unfortunately, there's no town; and he lacks the willpower to drink all day, every day. He goes back to the family home place in Carroll County, Alabama. Finds his mother in a nursing home with advanced dementia, his brother as a successful attorney with a witchy wife, and his sister is an executive with TVA in Knoxville.
..."Boo" Radley is looking for something to do to maintain his sanity. The Carroll County Sheriff, Pres Crotts, in in political trouble due to an unsolved murder and comes to Radley, "a big city police detective," for help. Basically, Crotts needs someone to blame for his failure.
Radley takes the job, finds the murderer, and in the ensuing chaos, Jack "Boo" Radley becomes the County Sheriff. How he does it and "cleans up the County" is the story in Exiled to Alabama...
