"The text in this book is taken from the 1925 edition of Captain Johnson's History. This was the third edition of the book and was an updated version of the original 1724 edition with three more pirate biographies added to the original thirteen. After much discussion it has been decided to add the biography of Captain Kidd which appeared in the two-volume 1726 edition."--Page xiv.
